It features a safety cord on the back end, allowing the swab to be carefully pulled back out if it becomes stuck. All oboe swabs now use a straight weight instead of a ball chain for smoother and safer operation.

The Qualities of Silk

All Hodge silk swabs are made from 100% silk and are available in performers black, royal blue, burgundy, forest green, and deep purple. Silk is exceptionally absorbent, removing moisture more effectively than many other natural materials, including cotton and chamois. Its compressible nature also allows the swab to move easily through instruments with varying bore sizes.
