The original humidifier for string instruments, Dampit has been protecting wood instruments for over 60 years. Long-lasting and easy to use, Dampits have helped safeguard the instruments of millions of musicians worldwide. Made from the finest materials, a Dampit will provide years of reliable service with proper care and without frequent replacement.

How to Use the Dampit
Optimum humidity level: 45% to 55%

Follow Dampit humidity indicator directions carefully:

  1. Immerse the Dampit in water for about 20 seconds.
  2. Pinch the end of the Dampit to remove excess water, then gently wipe the outer tube dry before placing it inside the instrument. Repeat the process when the Dampit is nearly dry.
  3. The Dampit humidity indicator shows the humidity percentage in your room. The numbered spots on the left change color as humidity levels change. If all segments are pink, the humidity is over 50%. Determine the humidity percentage by matching the numbered spot closest to the background panel color on the right. Read the level where light pink and light blue divide.
  4. The Dampit may remain inside the instrument while playing and will not affect tonal quality.
  5. Store your instrument in the coolest part of the room, away from radiators and heat registers.
  6. Use Dampit only during dry weather or central heating periods.
